Statement
Duke InfoSecurity &
InfoTechnology Services ("Duke IS IT") has
created this privacy statement ("Statement") to
demonstrate our commitment to maintaining the
confidentiality of our customers' data and any
data collected from visitors to our site. Your
privacy is of great importance to us.
Fundamentally, we take this confidentiality
issue seriously and seek to provide fair and
secure systems for the appropriate handling of
private information. In situations where we
partner with other organizations to provide
service offerings, we strive to select companies
that adhere to these same principles. All such
activities at Duke IS IT are additionally
intended to be consistent with both commonly
accepted privacy ethics and standard business
practices.
Because we gather important information from our
customers, we have established this Statement as
a means to communicate our information gathering
and dissemination practices. We also gather a
limited amount of information to serve the needs
of visitors to the site. We reserve the right to
change this Statement after posting a notice of
the change on our corporate web site -
www.DukeISIT.com - for
at least thirty (30) business days.
Collected Information
We require customers who register to use Duke IS
IT services, including the HyBlue Portal,
collectively referred to as "Services", to give
us contact information, such as their name,
company name, address, phone number, and e-mail
address, and financial qualification and billing
information, such as billing name and address.
We do not collect credit card information, nor
do we use anticipate using credit cards as a
future form of payment for the information
security and technology services we offer. We
may ask for additional personal information,
such as title, department name, fax number, or
additional company information, such as annual
revenues, number of employees, or industry.
Customers can opt out of providing this
additional information by not entering it when
asked. Customers can update or remove their
personal information at any time by logging into
the web site and editing their Personal
Information. Customers can view their updated
profile to confirm their edits have been made.
Duke IS IT uses the information that we collect
to set up Services for individuals and their
organizations. We may also use the information
to contact customers to further discuss customer
interest in our company, the Services that we
provide, and to send information regarding our
company or partners, such as promotions and
events. Customers may be invited to receive an
email newsletter by providing an email address.
Customer email addresses and any personal
customer information will not be distributed or
shared with any third parties. Customers can opt
out of being contacted by us, or receiving such
information from us, at any time by sending an
email to
Privacy@DukeISIT.com. Separately, customers
are also asked to provide an email address when
registering for the HyBlue Portal Service, in
order to receive alerts and other information
system status notifications from our partner,
HyBlue Inc. We may also email information
regarding updates to our Services or company,
and will send a Customer Newsletter.
Except as we explicitly state at the time we
request information, or as provided for in the
Duke IS IT Terms of Service, we do not disclose
to any third-party the information provided. All
financial and billing information that we
collect through the Site is used solely to check
the qualifications of prospective customers and
to bill for Services. This billing information
is not used by Duke IS IT for marketing or
promotional purposes.
Duke IS IT offers some of its managed services
in conjunction with a portal service offered by
HyBlue, Inc. (“HyBlue”), a provider of managed
service infrastructure to multiple Value Added
Resellers (VARS). Necessary information about
the computers being monitored is shared between
Duke IS IT and HyBlue, Inc. Other third parties,
such as content providers, may provide content
on the web site but they are not permitted to
collect any information nor does Duke IS IT
share any user information with these parties.
Subscribers to certain managed service offerings
of Duke IS IT will be accessing the HyBlue
Portal via a web-based browser to view data and
information ("Data") that is specific to their
particular distributed computing environment.
Data is defined as any information,
descriptions, facts, statistics, measurements,
reports, details and the like collected by Duke
IS IT or HyBlue about the customer's network,
databases, applications or other information
systems resources: the actual data contained in
the customer’s databases and other application
data files is not being accessed, only
information about the functioning and
performance of the network, databases,
applications or other information systems
resources.
Duke IS IT will not make any unauthorized
attempt to access the actual data contained in
customer’s databases and other application data
files except at the explicit request of the
customer, e.g., as part of data recovery efforts
or to troubleshoot application or network
performance issues, or as may be required by
law.
Duke IS IT or HyBlue Inc. will not review,
share, distribute, print, or reference any such
Data except as provided in the Duke IS IT or
HyBlue Terms of Service or as may be required by
law. Individual records may at times be viewed
or accessed by authorized Duke IS IT or HyBlue
Inc. employees or appropriate third parties only
for the purpose of resolving a problem, support
issue, or suspected violation of the Terms of
Service, or as may be required by law.
Duke IS IT or HyBlue Inc. shall also have the
royalty-free right to gather, compile, use and
distribute comparative data sets, statistical
analyses, reports and related solutions
utilizing aggregated data derived from Data
obtained from Customer, other Duke IS IT or
HyBlue Inc. customers and other sources as a
solution to its customers and future customers
and in the development of products and
solutions, provided, however, that in no event
shall the data distributed to third parties
allow the identification of an individual person
or customer.
Security
The HyBlue Customer Portal maintained by our
partner, HyBlue Inc., has security measures in
place to help protect against the loss, misuse,
and alteration of the Data under their control.
The HyBlue Software Sensor uses Secure Sockets
Layer (SSL) encryption for all communications
between the Customer network and the HyBlue data
center. The HyBlue data center uses a firewall
and other advanced technology to prevent
interference or access from intruders.
Our partner, HyBlue Inc., maintains high levels
of physical security at its data center,
including limited authorized access to areas of
the facility where customer data is viewed,
processed and maintained. Finally, the HyBlue
Customer Portal utilizes unique user names and
passwords that must be entered each time you log
on. These safeguards help prevent unauthorized
access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the
appropriate use of your Data.
Duke IS IT and HyBlue Inc., each and separately,
takes reasonable precautions when handling data
to ensure its quality and integrity. Visitor
data is kept in order to service requests. Data
is kept in a locked secure area behind a
firewall to protect it from unauthorized access.
Third Party Sites
The Duke IS IT corporate web site may contain
links to other web sites. Duke IS IT is not
responsible for the privacy practices or the
content of these other web sites, including
those of our partner, HyBlue. Users and visitors
will need to check the policy statement of these
other web sites to understand their policies.
Users who respond on a linked site may be
sharing their private information. It is the
responsibility of the user to keep such
information private and confidential.
Children and Privacy
The Duke IS IT corporate web site does not
target and is not intended to attract children
under the age of 13. Duke IS IT does not
knowingly solicit personal information from
children under the age of 13 or send them
requests for personal information.
